Our Program
At KV Ranch, our breeding program is built on purpose — not volume. We are a small, ranch-based program focused on raising sound, stable-minded Australian Shepherds that thrive in real-life environments. Our dogs are not kennel-raised or removed from daily life. They are part of our ranch routine, exposed to livestock, open space, people, and the rhythms of everyday work.
We believe quality always matters more than quantity. Each breeding is thoughtfully planned with temperament, structure, health, and long-term soundness in mind.
Temperament First
Australian Shepherds are intelligent, driven, and loyal. Without the right temperament, those traits can become overwhelming. That’s why we prioritize steady, people-focused, and clear-minded dogs in our program.
Our goal is to produce puppies that:
Have a natural off-switch
Are confident but not chaotic
Bond strongly with their families
Can excel in ranch, performance, or active companion homes
We evaluate each dog closely before considering them for our program. Stability and disposition come first — always.
Health & Structure
We are committed to responsible breeding practices and ongoing health evaluation.
Our breeding dogs are:
Registered with ASCA (and AKC where applicable)
Health tested or scheduled for health testing
Evaluated for sound structure and movement
Raised with proper nutrition and care
We are continuously working to strengthen our program and improve each generation.
Raised With Purpose
Our puppies are raised in a hands-on ranch environment where they experience:
Daily human interaction
Exposure to livestock
Outdoor exploration
Age-appropriate socialization
Structured stimulation
They are not raised in isolation. From an early age, they are handled, observed, and guided to build confidence and adaptability.
Placement Matters
We do not place puppies on a first-come, first-served basis.
Our priority is matching the right puppy to the right home. We want our dogs to succeed long-term, whether that’s on a ranch, in performance sports, or as a devoted family companion.
We remain available to our puppy families for guidance and support.
What Goes Home With Your Puppy
Bringing home a new puppy is exciting, and we want that transition to be as smooth as possible for both you and your new companion. Each KV Ranch puppy goes home prepared, supported, and set up for success.
When your puppy leaves at 8 weeks of age, they will go home with:
🐾 Veterinary Care & Records
Age-appropriate vaccinations
Routine deworming
A detailed health record
Documentation of parent health testing (when applicable)
We believe transparency matters, and you will know exactly what your puppy has received prior to going home.

ASCA registration paperwork (or applicable registry paperwork)
Litter information
Guidance on completing registration
We are happy to assist with any paperwork questions after pickup.
🐾 Starter Care Package
A small bag of the current food to ease transition
A familiar blanket or item with litter scent
A toy for comfort and familiarity
These items help reduce stress and make the first few nights easier.
